Mainland Equatorial Guinea (Rio Muni) offers a variety of mineral potentials expected in Archaean craton settings with Pan-African irritated printing; With the possibility of gold, diamonds, Columbo-tantalite, platinum group elements, bauxite and basic metals.

Rio Muni consists of Archaean Terran from the NTEM and Massif Monts de Cristal complex from the North Congo Craton, both of whom partially worked back during Paleoproterozoic Eburnian Orogeny. They consisted of most granite gneisses, charnockites, mafic intrusion and extensive sliding zones (including the limits of the eburnian canal), with the number of stones, metasediments and post-orogenic intrusions. The Transpressional Structure of PAN African often occurs in the West and is associated with granite intrusion and pegmatite bodies, which also occur throughout the interior. Sub-greenschist shales, dolomite argillaseous, and quartzite occur in the southwest. High-level sediment packages, also associated with PAN-Africa, found along the northern border of the country where they are associated with major attacks and thrust errors and post-tectonic granite intrusions.

The coastal route Rio Muni consists of lime sand, shales, and carbonate with basal conglomerate, all stored during the phase of Rifting from the opening of the Atlantic. The trans-Atlantic fracture zone is connected to the main land base line, at least one of them shows evidence of Cenozoic Rifting (The Benito Rift).
